after updating macbook air 2017 to bigsur 11.1 the fan speed is very high even during idle

Check Activity Monitor to see what is running, perhaps in the background. After a major update, Spotlight will reindex y our drive and that can take a few days (processes are mds, mdsworker, etc.).
