Gift Card Balance

On 6-19-21 I purchased a gift card at a local CVS for 50 dollars. I immediately sent the card to a friend of mine that's a soldier in Iraq. He messaged me this morning saying the card was no good and it had already been used. That's basically impossible as he was the only one to have the number. Can you tell me where and when the card was redeemed?
