Input volume too low on third party apps? (Macbook pro retina 2015)

I keep hearing from other people that my voice is too low unless I speak directly to my inline earphone mic.

The problem does not seem to be with the headset mic, because I can hear myself perfectly on video/audio recordings and when using the earphone with my headset to do calls.
