Problems after updating to Monterey

After updating to Monterey, I keep getting the login screen with the icons. Enter password, computer runs and then I see the icons again, enter password again, etc. Have tried many times, restarted, shut down over and over, still get the login screen. Also tried the Command, Option, R, P but it doesn't restart. Tried shutting down and starting in safe mode, but no luck.

If Filevault got turned on by default..

Use FileVault to encrypt the startup disk on your Mac - Apple ...

if Firmware password got turned on by default..

Set a firmware password on your Mac - Apple Support

try making some changes

To trouble shoot further you can:

—SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
