Trying to connect Garmin GPSMAP67 to Basecamp on my Mac...

It looks like Apple Mac doesn't work anymore with Garmin GPSMAP devices anymore. In this case a new GPSMAP67 does not connect to Basecamp software on the Mac. Don't you guys(Apple, Garmin) like each other anymore or something? I can assure it is quite enoyable for your customers. Garmin tells me that Apple took away the facilities that the Garmin devices use to make it work in macOS. What is going wrong here?

How can I make my investment in the Garmin GPSMAP67 work on my Mac ?

Beste Polimo: Ik ervaarde het zelfde probleem, ook eerst geprobeerd dit met "Android File Transfer" op te lossen zoals Garmin adviseert. Maar zonder succes. Ik heb om alle ellende voor te blijven, een "hoekje" op mijn MAC ingeruimd voor Windows 11. incl een Windows versie van Basecamp. En dan werkt het probleemloos. Als je toch BaseCamp via Apple wilt gebruiken, sla dan de ritten eerst op in een aparte map die via de Basecamp Windos versie weer kunnen binnen halen. Maar ik deel jouw ervaringf. Een "huwelijk tussen Basecamp en Apple is altijd een slecht huwelijk geweest. Ton

Has this issue been solved in the meantime ? I have the same problem with my new GPSmap 67 on Mac with OS Catalina 10.15.7. and Basecamp 4.8.13. GPSmap 67 Software is up-to-date. — Version 6.60. I have tried the Garmin Support solution that polimo mentioned but that doesn't work ...

This is a user forum. We are users like you. You are not talking to Apple or Garmin here.

Did you update your Garmin software to the current version? I see on the web that there is a 4.8.13 version, very recent, and that its requirements say "10.13 or later", which suggests that Ventura is supported.

Luis, I know this is a user forum, I am only expressing my frustration on the recent Apple-Garmin relationship. I suppose that is allowed in a user forum without penalties. Yes I did all necessary things to make it work, upgraded Basecamp to 4.8.13 and I am on macOS 13.3.1.

Beste Ton, Dank voor uw antwoord. Je bent de eerste die positief reageert op dit probleem, waarvoor dank. Ik koos ondertussen voor een andere oplossing: ik bracht de GPSMAP67 terug naar de winkel en ruilde hem om naar een GPSMAP65s, het vorige type. Die werkt nog volgens eerdere connectieprincipes die ook de Mac ondersteunt. Je voelt nog wel een beetje een Windows connectie maar alles werkt zoals het hoort ook met de Mac. Mijn ingebakken oordeel dat nieuwere Garmin types altijd beter werken kreeg hierdoor een deuk natuurlijk. Ik begrijp Garmin/Apple niet dat ze het zo kunnen verknoeien.

Uw oplossing is constructief maar zelf heb ik ondertussen voldoende een hekel aan Windows dat ik dat uit mijn leven gesloten heb. Toch dank voor uw constructieve antwoord! Paul (polimo)

Ever get a solution to this ?

Seems it is all Garmin units I have tried other software and allsorts

I can still read an old Foretrex 201 with USB to serial adapter and "Load My Tracks" But not by GPS 296. Lucky i kept my old 2004 Windows XP laptop..at least that is still reliable so I can have basic access to download tracks / waypoints etc. But not ideal

Ito have tried multiple 'failed solution...any updates appreciated.

Ik had hetzelfde probleem. Voor mij was de oplossing - na lang zoeken en uitproberen- om de GPSMAP 67 direct met een usb-c kabel te verbinden met je Mac. Geen Hub ertussen of ernaast. Alleen de GPS en Mac verbinden. Kan het niet verklaren, maar voor mij werkt het.

I can confirm the same problem. However, I managed to connect with a special cable. I tried about 10 types of cables, only one works. USB C directly from the reduction to MAC AIR. I highly recommend
