iOS 17 on Apple Watch. How do you get to the screen to remove water?

Three is no water lock icon when press digital crown, with updated new version, and no more slide up for it. It was so simple to use before now I have to take off my watch when going to water. How inconsistent is this!

It's the power button on the side below the "digital crown". Push it, and the old menu will show with the option to set the water lock. After setting, you push the crown to eject the water as before.

When I push the side button all I have is medical and sos emergency.

I must be going mad, when I press the side button I get the app list, holding it just gives me Siri? I cannot find the control panel at all? Please help! Is it to do with my watch being series 4 ( or 5, forget which )

Although members state the crown can be used to fInd the water lock, it cannot be found on my watch since IOS 17 update.

any ideas?

Press and let go. Don’t keep it pressed.

I had the same issue. When you push the round crown button I still get Siri but the elongated button underneath will give you the old menu with the water lock!! Yeah!!

None of these responses worked for me. So what I did was press the side button and talk to Siri. I said “control center”. Then the control center popped up (like it used to) Once the control center opened, I was able to click on the water droplet. Solved!!

I had to Google the same question. I forgot that button existed 😂😂 thank you!!

This will display the Control Center. In the Control Center should be a water drop for turning on the Water Lock. If it is not there, then scroll to the end of the Control Center and tap "Edit", which should allow you to add the Water Lock to the list of Control Center icons.

Control Center is now accessed by pressing the Side Button. You can SET the Water Lock there. To release Water Lock if it has already been activated you need to press and hold the Digital Crown.

I found it! The iOS 17 update moved it to the side button instead of the crown. It’s all there. 😁

The above link tell you how to eject water and disable the water lock.

Displaying the Control Center and the water drop icon, that turns on Water Lock, can be obtained by a quick press and release of the flat oval side button (see picture)

DO NOT hold the button, as that will bring up the Emergency services display

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed “Side Button Click Speed” can adjust the press and release timing, so you get the Control Center display every time. Adjusting The "Side Button Click Speed" is also useful for Apple Pay’s double press and release. There is “Default” (sub second timing of needed), “Slow” (up to a second between press and release), and “Slowest” (up to 2 seconds between press and release). I like the “Slow” setting. NOTE: Slow and Slowest settings do not mean you have to wait a full second or 2 seconds between press and release. It just means you do not need to be super fast.

Then you press and held the button too long, and got Emergency services.

If you have timing problems with the quick press and release, then play with this option

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed

I like Slow. My Wife likes Slowest. This option is also useful when trying to access Apple Pay with the quick double press and release.
