iMac G4 macOS 10.3.9 can't find server (no internet)

Recently booted up an old iMac g4 running Mac os X 10.3.9. I plugged an ethernet cable in the back and into my router, and was shown the green light in network settings (built in ethernet is currently active…You are connected to the Internet.) But am still unable to connect to the internet or any websites, is there a step I missed or something I can do to use this computer on the internet?

Hi,

Unfortunately, there is a general problem with secure (https) web sites and the browsers compatible with Mac OS X 10.3 (and earlier), even if the connection as such would be OK. The few remaining plain http sites (you could use, for example, knubbelmac.de for a test) should work. For Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, there was a TenFourFox browser that could be used in some cases. However, even users with operating systems as new as macOS 10.15 Catalina may have difficulties finding web browser versions that can handle modern pages.
