Saving mail settings

Changes to apple mail server settings will not save. I hit "save" and the system goes to "verifying server settings," then provides the message "Unable to verify account name or password." I have already verified that my new Xfinity mail account password matches the new password; the account names have not changed. One more thing: Apple mail settings lookup says my Mac is an iMap account, but it is not and has never been.

Apple Mail IMAP I just got the Mac Studio and I am trying to log into my IMAP mail on the Apple mail app. I put in all of the correct setting (Username, password, Host name) and it says "Unable to verify account name or password". I downloaded Outlook and put in all of the same settings and it loaded no problem. Is there an issue with the latest MacOS Ventura 13.5 and IMAP emails? These setting are currently working on my phone and iMac Pro.

OS X Mail app doesn't display incoming server settings My Mail app is behaving oddly. I'm having trouble connecting to one of my accounts, and it seems to be because it's rejecting the password. When I went to try updating it in the server settings, the incoming server settings simply aren't there. It only shows a single line for the outgoing server setting. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Can I reinstall Mail without losing my large cache of IMAP messages, and more importantly, my old POP messages?
