MacBook Air 2024 M3 wifi slow compared to other devices

Hi all,

I need some serious help with my brand new MacBook Air. Out of the box a week ago and after just a few days I’ve already been hampered by wifi speeds far slower than the rest of my house and devices. I’ve searched for similar issues all over the web but many solutions proposed haven’t worked. For reference, I’ve tried:

- different browsers - safari, Firefox and chrome

- turning Bluetooth off

- turning off the ‘limit IP address tracking’ setting

- using both 2.4 and 5ghz bands on the router

- renewing the DHCP lease

- starting in safe mode

I’m running out of options. My iPhone, my old MacBook Pro (which I transferred all my settings and data from), my partner’s windows laptop, all have absolutely fine speeds. Wondering if a straight up factory reset might fix the problem, but hoping for some advice first. I’m not a very tech-minded person by nature, any help at all would really be appreciated.

I’ve attached a photo below of the 2.4 ghz band’s settings.

The computer is connecting over the 2.4 gHz Network which is OK

You mention the Router uses both the 2.4hHz and the 5 gHz spectrums

By the natures of Wifi on Apple computers.

The computer will try to connect to the Strongest WIFI signal ( 2.4. or 5 gHz )

5 gHz signals are best used when the computer is in Direct Line of Sight and without Obstructions between computer and Router

To the Best Wifi Performance on this machine.

It may required checking the Router

This M3 machine is capable to use Wifi 6E which is the next step Up in speed over Wifi

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Use Wi-Fi 6E networks with Apple devices
