iMovie is built into all Macs. It's a great app to start with. No real need to go any further for "simple and easy."

As a matter of fact, the "simple and easy" is deceptive because there are also a lot of advanced features built into iMovie that you can use as you gain experience; but they will not get in your way as a newbie.
