Home app not notifying me of people seen in camera

I have three home pods set up on a house in a different state. I am not there. I have the app set to notify me if any activity is seen on two of the cameras and if a person is seen on the third. I have them set to report when I'm not there. I'm not getting any reports but when I check I can see the activity. There is even recordings of the activity, but I've never been notified. I thought I was getting a system that could alert me. What am I doing wrong. Yes, I've checked all the settings for notification and they are on.
