Stage manager full screen in the same stage

While using Stage Manager is it possible to have apps taking the full screen area while being in the same stage? Whenever I drag the corner to size it up to the totality of the screen, the apps moves to it's own stage, making the other apps in the stage go into unfocused mode. I understand that before there was the possibility of keeping several apps focused at the same screen, but taking advantage of the whole screen real estate.

Is there still a way to make this happen? Having the apps display in such small windows is just a downgrade from what it used to be in 16.2, and now I can't even roll back to that previous version...
