Recently the podcasts that I download on the Apple podcast app contain ads at the beginning of each of the podcasts that I download. Is there a paid Apple subscription or other way to remove the ads?

Apple Podcasts only provides a way of streaming podcasts. This means that podcasts come with ads as a part of them, which is similar to watching a video with paid sponsorship. In most cases, you can skip adverts by simply seeking or pressing the "Skip 15s" button.
Some podcasts offer a paid subscription via Apple Podcasts which removes ads, but this may not be the case for all podcasts.
