AirPods Max disconnect after a few minutes of use

I have two sets of AirPod max that my husband and I use every evening. I received them for Christmas and they have worked without issues until recently. The AirPods are fully charged after using for a few minutes my husband’s will disconnect which in turn causes mine to disconnect. I will go into the television menu and reconnect them. They will work for a few minutes and then disconnect again. I will repeat the steps until I’m so frustrated we put the AirPods away and turn the volume up on the tv so my husband can hear it. I have completely reset them several times and then they will work for an hour or two and they start disconnecting again.
