Magic Trackpad 2 not so magical

I recently got a new MacBook Air and connected the track pad and Magic Keyboard. Track pad works but won't charge. I've disconnected and reconnected and nothing works. Currently have it plugged in to an external outlet and it's charging now but that's not the point of how this is supposed to work. Keyboard is charging just fine.

Re: Track pad works but won't charge.

Wondering if you have checked that both the power-point and the cable are working ok.

Apple support have an article online that may be helpful:

Charge a Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2, or Magic Trackpad 2 with Mac - Apple Support

Eg: says:

Connect the Lightning end of a USB-C to Lightning Cable or a Lightning to USB Cable to your keyboard, mouse or trackpad, and the other end to the USB-C or USB port on your Mac.

Note: Depending on your Mac, you may need an adapter, which is available from an Apple Store or on apple.com.

When your keyboard, mouse or trackpad is charged, you receive a notification

on your screen or display that you can disconnect the cable and use your device wirelessly.

If you still have the issue:

As your Mac is quite new, while under warranty you may want to consult with the experts :

Eg: For complimentary support

Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support for contact details

All the best :-)
