How to fix intermittent Key issues on my MacBook Air

About a month ago my 1 key and q began to work only intermittently on my 2020 MacBook air with the M chip running Sonoma 14.4.1. I would have to push the key several times to get the desired result. It was an even harder ask to get the shifted version (exclamation point) and the (capital q) respectively. Then two weeks ago the key action suddenly returned to normal. I didn't do anything to effect this positive change--no special cleaning or anything like that. Then after two weeks of zero issues, the problem returned. What do you think is happening?
