How long does it take to setup my domain with Apple?

The domain is owned by our org and there are currently no email accounts associated with the domain. Wanted to take advantage of Custom Email Domain from Apple. Set up DNS through our provider based on the instructions in this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102374. I go to my iCloud and check the status, it says custom Email Domain (pending). It is over 24 hours. Does it really take that much time or is anything wrong that I can check up and get it fixed?
