Gmail on Iphone

For about the last couple of weeks I have had new problems with Gmail on iPhone. It won’t crash but will close if I attach a photo or file and don’t send it fast enough. Outgoing and incoming mail takes longer to process. Sitting on an outgoing basic email through Gmail with no attachment and it’s been 10 minutes. Seems like Google is making Apple’s use problematic. I have a newish iPhone (in last year) and never had this problem.
