My generation 1 Apple Pencil isn’t working

About a month ago my Apple Pencil started having problems with writing or just interacting with my iPad (10th generation I Believe) to which I just had to constantly reset the connection with the pen. Until 3 weeks ago when it stopped working. I had assumed that the tip was broken because it had scratches on the tip so I ordered a new one and replaced it but it’s still not working. The pen is connecting but it won’t work. The cap of the pen that covers the charger has a small crack on it but I don’t think it has to do with that.
