How can I use my 3rd gen Apple TV with a vintage amp WITHOUT using a preamp? I have tried with an audio extractor but cannot control the volume via the RCA outputs.

My amp is a vintage unit and has only RCA inputs.

I would prefer to not use a preamp but rather an HDMI audio extractor

I attempted to use one but had no volume control no matter how I configured the Apple TV
