airpods mic not working for phone calls

when i have a phone call on with my airpods it seems like people cant hear me. I can hear them but they cant hear me. My mic works on facetime but doesnt seem to work on messenger calls and normal phone calls?

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 17

Try and restart the paired device to see if the issues persist

You can also reset the AirPods to get them to factory settings to seer if the issues persist

AirPods (all generations) or AirPods Pro (all generations): Put the AirPods in their case, close the lid, then wait 30 seconds. Open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light flashes amber, then white.
