Can the Lock key in Magic Keyboard be disabled?

I just got the new 2024 Magic Keyboard and mostly, I love it; and yes, I'm glad for the function keys. One problem. And an old one at that, as this occurred in the earliest versions of such keyboards, both for Macs and for iPads.

Lock Key! 😡 It sits right above the delete key. So, if you're typing away, and you need to delete, you've a good chance of hitting the lock key instead. And there goes your screen to black.

I mean, really? This is a KNOWN PROBLEM with having the lock key there. Why, oh why, did Apple put it there again when it brought back the function keys?

So, question to Apple or anyone...can it be disabled? I really, really, really don't need to lock my computer down. I don't need that key. But I do need to hit delete. Frequently. And do it without getting a black screen and having to swipe up to get back to my writing.

HELP!
