How to fix iTunes not detecting iPhone 15 after data transfer?

My mac is using osx 10.13.6. I have a new Iphone 15 using ios 17.5. I have itunes 12.8.3.1 installed.

I used easy set up to transfer from on old iphone 12 to the iphone 15.

Now the iphone 15 is not detected by itunes and the transfer process seems to have barred access to my music playlist because "this song is no longer available in your country or region"

I would like to remove the old playlists in apple music but as itunes does not recognise the list I'm stuck.

I've checked the connecting usb cable but that seems ok (it charges the phone).

My old iphone 12 worked seemlessly with the current itunes version.

Any guidance?
