I am certain the service is enabled. Wondering if it's possible for my network to interfere or block that service? For instance, the mobile.me/find my iPad app just clocks and never locates. Google earth worked once but that was it. The default maps program clocks as well. Any ideas?
And does your iPad definitely have an active wifi connection when you're trying to use location services? If not, that would explain it. There's no GPS chip in the wifi-only version, so it must have a connection to try to get a location. If it is connected, then I recommend doing a Reset Network Settings (settings>general>reset>reset network settings (you will lose your wifi password if you do this, and will have to re-enter it the first time you connect). If that still doesn't work, then do a hard reset by holding down Sleep and Home, ignore the red slider if it comes up, and release only when the Apple logo shows.
Noticed the same thing here. Never had a problem with my previous iPad, and I've set this one up "fresh" - no restore of last device. Seems like a little bug...
I also had the same issue upon purchasing. Resetting the network settings did resolve it, but it the issue occurred again less than a week later. Resetting the network settings once again did the trick, but I think it's an issue that may need to be address if the location services stop working every couple days or so. Anyone else see it again after resetting?
I have found a solution that worked for me. I installed the google app and opened up maps within the app. This found my location instantly. After this all the location services seemed to work including find my iPhone, apple maps. Seems location services database must still be linked google.
unfortunatly, none of the above has worked for me. It did work on the 16gb wifi I bought 2 weeks ago. Now have upgraded to the 32gb it doesnt work.
Anyone else got any suggestions or do I head back to my friendly apple store !!
Thanks.
UPDATE - Just did a full reboot and now all working, inc mobile me-findmyipad.
Just like a PC
Reboot fixes everything !!
Thanks for all your suggestions. Have a great day.
