'Twitter' from the account

I wanted to install the 'Twitter' application from the Mac App Store.

When I did so, the login menu popped down, and it said that I had to log into the account.

This is not my account.

I've searched my Mac using spotlight, and I do not already have the application.

So now I can't download the application.

However, it dus appear under 'Updates', and when i press [update], it asks for the password again.

I'm worried that it got on my computer via a hack of some sort?

And what could I do in order to fix this problem?

If you read the thread in the comment above there is not much promise in the suggestion to use your time and bandwidth to download the 10.6.7 update combo. It is a large file (1.2 GB) and will likely do little to resolve your issue since you already have the Mac App Store installed on your Mac that this large update installs.

Have you installed FaceTime on your Mac? If so, where did you get FaceTime?

Okay, I deleted all of my downloaded apps that I got from the web. @Stewart Finley: I downloaded Facetime when it was free too. At least, I'm 99% sure I did. I can't really remember. But I deleted that also. And that weird thing went away. It you have any torrented, or Mac App store apps that were downloaded elsewhere from the web. Delete them. It's the only way to solve the issue. At least, it's the only way I know of and it worked for me. I will force you to download FaceTime again and you will probably have to pay for it, but luckily its pretty cheap.

Perhaps you do not understand the nature of beta software. It is for free because it is still being developed. And when you acquire a public beta you agree to the End User License Agreement that states that it is a public beta and agree to use it for the beta time period.

Are you not a man of your word Stewart? Do you not believe in living up to your agreements with others?

Hi All,

I had the problem of App Store Twitter Update from an unknown apple ID. This is how I fixed the issue, hope it works for others as well:

1- Try to block the apple ID by giving some garbage password and go to reset apple ID and do the same until you block the account. I have done it already but harmless to check it again 😕

2- Quit and Start MAC Apple Store.

3- From Menu Bar Select Store then View My Account.

4- In the Account Panel, click "RESET" Reset all warnings for buying and downloading.

5- Click DONE to exit.

6- In the Apple Store Categories and search box, type and search for Twitter

7- Select "Twitter" only from the given options and click to install it. A fresh app will dive into your Launch Pad and starts downloading with your own apple ID.

8- The Red Update No. will be removed from App Store icon on Dock.

9- Once app is downloaded and installed, you may keep twitter or you may uninstall it (like other apps) if you don't wish to keep it.

In any case if you wish to uninstal it please be a bit patient until the next update, if you uninstal it immediately, the old problem will return again.

Hope it helps
