I was just trying to configure my terminal and save a .term file. but there does not seem to be a Shell>Save.. option anywhere...Am I missing something?

This may help:

Exporting settings

If you want your settings to be available for use on another system, you can export them as a Terminal settings file. Terminal settings files have a .terminal extension and are stored in XML format. The file you create saves only the settings, not the contents of the window.

To export settings:

  1. Choose Terminal > Preferences, and then click Settings.
  2. Drag the setting from the Settings list, located on the left side of the Settings pane, to the Finder.

A settings file is created in the Finder. This can be imported by Terminal on another system.
