Airplay crashes when Amp Switched off

Hi,

I've got an annoying problem that has existed in every version of iTunes since airplay was released. I've been waiting for a fix from Apple but none seems to be forthcoming.

I use a Denon AVR-3311 Airplay enabled amp running it's latest firmware. My Media center runs WIn7 x64, and I use remote on an iPhone 3 as my main remote control.

I stream music to the Denon which seems to work fairly well, although not 100% seamless unfortunately.

The msot anoying issue however, is that if I am streaming music from iTunes, then either switch the source, or turn the amplifier off, iTunes will hang or crash 95% of the time. This then requiires me to log onto the media center and retart iTunes and wait 15 minutes for it to re-scan my large library.

Anyone seen this issue before or have any suggestions?

i get this as well with the denon 3312 - and usually when i'm using the remote app for iTunes. It seemed to be much more stable after I downloaded the updated denon remote app (2.3.4) leading me to think it was the denon software causing the issues.

the problem came back in the last week or so and it's driving me insane - whenever i try and hijack the denon receiver with the itunes remote app (i.e., select denon from the listed airplay devices) itunes crashes

my event viewer shows:

removing the power plug from the receiver for 10 mins seems to help - i'll update if i learn anything further

Yeah it seems to help for a little while.. but not long.

Even if it is Denon's "fault", airplay should gracefully handle whatever the Denon throws it's way. It shouldn't cause iTunes to crash. Bad coding on Apples part.
