for awhile. I have 3 gigs of video and pictures that i just took right before it went into recovery mode. I need to know if i can get it out of recovery mode without restoring and losing all of my data. or if there is someway to access the hard drive in the phone?

Well, you certainly cannot access the hard drive on the iPhone, because it has no hard drive. There is no official way to get it out of recovery mode without restoring, and that will erase all content that is not already in the backup on your computer. However - Google for "tinyunbrella" or "recboot"

There's no official way to get it out of recovery mode without restoring and without losing all the data on the phone. There are unapproved methods that claim to do this by hacking, and can't be discussed here, and from what I know have a good chance of bricking the phone. There is no hard drive - all solid state memory.
If you decide to try the solutions offered above, they may indeed help you. However, make SURE your data is worth the risk. You can end up bricking your phone and voiding your warranty.
It is very hard to "brick" the Iphone. It generally can always be recovered with other tools.

yes ive tried tinyumbrella and it acts like its taking it out of recovery mode but just ends up staying there. ugh i really just dont want to lose all of my data. so im looking for any possible way around it..
Are you using a Mac or Windows Itunes?
Absolutely I have had my Phones from the origina Iphone and have tried many things on them. I have always been able to recover them.
It depends what you did to the phone to get it to crash in the first place. Apple countermeasures are getting more aggressive.
I agree, but even if he jail**** the phone originally he should be able to get it to respond with a prog like Red**** to then force the recovery mode. I have even had to pull the cable mid breaking to get the phone to respond to then restore with the official release software to recover the phone.
well heres the thing with that, the last time i updated it was on my wifes laptop (windows) since we have got divorced and now i no longer have access to that computer so i havent updated it since. but my roomate now has a mac book pro so ill be using that after all this i guess
my phone died. i plugged it in to the car charger and when it booted back up it gave me the plug into itunes logo, been there since

This thread has drifted a little. I normally do not recommend tinyunbrella or recboot because they mess up the network settings on your computer, but you seemed to be a special case. When the phone is in Recovery mode it can be for many reasons. It can simply be a glitch, and not a corrupted iOS. In this case these programs will work. However, in the iOS is actually currupted they will not work and you will lose all of your content when you restore. There is one long shot; try the program PhoneView (for Mac only). If you connect the phone it MAY be able to see files on your phone. But only if the data structures are not too badly corrupted.
awesome thanks! yeah tinyumbrella didnt work, i guess i will try phone view when i get home, hopefully that will work, i just really dont want to lose all my data. but I may just have to suck it up and redo it all
PhoneView is very useful for other backup and maintenance reasons. However, I've never seen it connect to a phone in recovery mode.
My phone is stuck in Recovery mode, I dont have access to itunes
