Text/iMessage alert tone problem since ios5 update

I totally agree and I also have the home button and reception issue. This is my first and last iphone. My next phone will be a solid nokia again.

This worked for me. Resetting the network settings.

Not only did resetting the networks settings fix the stutter, it also gave me a voicemail from this afternoon that I hadnt gotten yet.

If you read through the whole thread, you would be happy to find that we have already worked out an issue to fix the stuttering tone.

Just go to Settings->Notification, go into the items and turn off "Show in lock screen"

This would fix the issue but you won't be able to see those notifications on your lock screen again

but this is the ultimate issue, i have fixed my iphone with a network reset

To all still reading this I can confirm on n iPhone 4s the fix was to go into notifications for messages and turn off the option at the bottom of the list for alerts in lock screen. Finally no annoying stutter with the message alerts!!!! Woo goo and thanks to all those who suggested this in the first place, I love you all!!!

Guys, I'm glad that it's enough for you, but that is NOT a fix. You are just turning off one of the options causing this problem. I do not want to turn off notifications in the lockscreen because I need them there. SImple as that, it's not a fix, just a workaround.

Can anyone report if 5.1 fixes it maybe? I didn't have this problem for a while after a restart so I can't tell..

I can confirm 5.1 has fixed the stuttering text tone issue,well it certainly has on my 3gs.....I had been useing the workaround for some time while Apple were dragging their heels....Everything back to normal now. 🙂

at last it has been solved 😉 im sure that apple will never leave their loyal customers alone although it takes too long time to resolve this issue but i believe that they want to make a solid update and they did

I am sorry to say guys, this is again a temporary fix for me. Ive had the update since thursday or friday i think it was, and today the stutter has slowly begun to develop 😟. I had the same excitement thinking all was fixed, very disapointed 😟 Please let me know if any of you experience similar faults. But again this is highlighting a software issue! Nowhere in their 5.1 update did they specify any work to the notification centre.

Its been 2 weeks since i updated to 5.1....... my issue resolved, its working fine... SHUTTERING text sound gone.....

Ok, I just found this thread. My iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1/5.01 never had a problem. Upon my update to 5.1, I now have the stuttering sound with text messages. So, it appears that there is something funky going on for me that you all were experienceing with pre 5.1 iOS. Can someone identify what you mean when you say reset the Network Settings? Thanks for any help.
