iphone 4s - HOTSPOT - WILL NOT STAY CONNECTED

I am having the exact same issue. A few weeks ago when I had the iPhone 4, the hotspot worked great. Now with the 4s, when I turn on the mobile hotspot it's a 50-50 chance on if I can even manage to log in to Facebook on my computer before I get disconnected. Apple, any answers to this?

I don't think it is a 4s thing. I think there are some serious issues with iOS5 as after the update my iPhone4 tethering became very flakey

Well it would be nice if we could get some sort of answer about this.

I don't think it is just the tethering.

I've having the described issue just with my normal 3g data connection since the iOS 5 upgrade.

I've tried Hard reset and restting network connection. Stilling not found a solution.

Well apple? Any answer why your "best os yet" isn't working correctly? Or are there not enough complaints to care?

I know that a new version of ios is already in beta-test.

Perhaps any problem with ios 5 like battery or data connection should have corrections...

I have a Iphone4 and don't have any problem with ios5.

I4S have new system of antenna, i tried it and it's better than I4.

Do you try disconnecting bluetooth, just connect with wifi ?

I don't ever use the Bluetooth. Ive tried both wifi and USB tethering. Connection is always extremely slow and drops ever 10 minutes or so. I have to go into the phone and reset the hotspot/tethering to get my laptop back on the net.

I am having the same problem. I would like to use the personal hot spot on my 4s so I can use my iPad 2 but once I enable the personal hotspot, the wifi network doesn't even show for my iPad to connect to it.

Repeat the wifi is not even discoverable. Come on Apple. At least let us know if you are working on it with this update.

i have the same problem. I can connect my Iphone 4s and Ipad 2 over Wifi, after 5 or 10 Minutes the connection slows extremely down. Then i have to switch the Hotspot off and on and the it works for 5 or 10 Minutes

So far everyone I know that had a 4s (both Verizon and AT&T, I don't know any on sprint) that tethers is having this issue. And still no word from apple... I miss Steve jobs.

Apple really need to come up with a fix this hotspot issue in 4s. I gave up Sprint after trying for a week, and now trying AT&T with the same results. MIght have to give up using iphone.

Yes, I'm having the exact same problem. My iPhone connects to my laptop, then disconnects after five minutes. After that, I can't even find my iPhone hotspot listed anymore. Fix this Apple!

I have the same issue for my iphone4s (and the problem didn't exist on my old iPhone 4 with latest iOS)

For me,the problem of disconnection came out whenever sharinf with either Bluetooth or wifi.but the USB is still ok

I am having the same issue, but I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1. When I turn the mobile hotspot on, I can not see the phone from either my sons ipod, or my laptop. But when I go back into the Mobile Hotspot settings and the search for my iPhone from my laptop, I can see it and connect to it. After about 10 or so mintues, it will disconnect and I have to do the same thing over again to connect back.

Any ideas and how to fix?

Having the same issue here as well. Using my iPhone 4s as a wifi mobile hotspot, I can get my iPad 2 to connect for about 5-10 minutes, then the connection gets really slow or drops completely. If I turn the hotspot off and back on it starts working again for another 5-10 minutes. Staring to wish I had got an iPad with a 3G connection and never upped my data plan on my iPhone to a tethering plan. I don't mind the annoyance of connecting my iPad initially to a mobile hotspot, but when I gave to do it every 5-10 minutes, it is incredibly frustrating.
