I can't take screenshots on my 4s.
I press Home and Power simultaneously, as usual with all iPhones so far, but all it does is turn the screen off...
I restored the system to factory settings (after a backup of my data), to no avail. Still no screenshots.

Hi, I had the same problem. The I deactivated Siri (the voice recognition function) and I can take screenshots again. I think it's a conflict of Siri being activated by pressing the Home button for a longer time and screenshots requiring pressing of Home button and on/off button.

If it helps, I've found by holding the on/off button then pressing the home button once pretty quickly I get a screen shot perfectly every time.
Right, apparently due to UI changes for Siri, the screenshot sequence was changed from "hold down home, press on/off, release homef" to "hold down on/off, press Home, release on/off".
Uh I thought that's what I said to do!!!
Your answer, The Huntress, was the clearest: hold the on/off button, then press the home button once PRETTY QUICKLY, and you get a screenshot even if you have Siri activated. Thanks.
Hi cwr - After trying it, he Huntress' answer is a bit clearer than yours, I think. But yours is also correct :)
The Huntress is correct - with 'pretty quickly' being the key terms. I kept holding the lock and home buttons for too long - which is why it wouldn't take the screenshot. But you don't have to turn Siri off to take screenshots. You just have ot quickly let go of both buttons instead of holding them down.
