Safari cant download this file

You cannot download files via Safari to the iPhone. What are you trying to do?

The ONLY thing you can save to an iPhone, from Safari, is a pic. Nothing else, and no downloads.

Only Apple knows for sure but it's likely due to security and stability.

Because that's the way Apple made it.

Other browsers, such as iCab Mobile and Atomic allow downloading of other things.

Pretty disappointing coming to ipad3 (my first apple product) from Android 4, where the standard browser downloads anything.

I tried installing Opera Mini, but this just opened Safari when clicking on a link to a zip file. However, installing iZip made Safari ask to open file in iZip, thus it would seem that if you have an app installed for the file type in question, Safari will actually be able to download it.
