The New iPad will not sync all photo's

I picked up the new iPad yesterday at the Apple store and am having a problem getting it to sync all of my photo library.

Im using iTunes on Windows 7 to sync the "My Pictures" folder to the iPad.

It will sync some but not all of the folders in the "My Pictures". I have deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, that did not help.

I have 2 iPhones and 2 older iPad 1's which sync the photo's just fine.

Update 3/19

Just got off the phone with Apple Support and the tech I spoke to said he was not able to find anything in the database about this problem or offer any other solution besides the deleting the photo cache.

So if your having this issue would you please contact Apple also. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I called Apple support on Saturday, 3/17, and spent 3 hours trying to work through this problem. They told me they didn't have any reports on this either. I told them repeatedly, that I saw plenty of comments about it on a variety of blogs... no kidding. Nice people to chat with and after 3 hours the tech I spoke to admitted there was a problem and he was going to report it to engineering.

I bought this very useful device to make my life easier and better, not to spend my entire day (I was trying to go it alone for most of the day before I called support) just trying to get sync to work.

I'm extremely frustrated about it and annoyed that Apple just doesn't come out and admit to the problem.

Thanks to CLARSONX for the tip on deleting the iPhoto application.

It WORKED for my situation!

Interestingly enough, I purchased iPhoto application BEFORE I performed a sync of my Photo Library from iTunes.

At this point, I'm convinced that iPhoto is the culprit.

I followed the steps proposed by CLARSONX to first delete the iPhoto app, delete the cache folder and then delete all photos in the "New" iPad's Photo Library. Essentially a full clean-up.

When I performed a re-sync of my original Windows 7 photo library folder location (with sub-folders) from iTunes, ALL photos synced properly.

I still haven't re-installed iPhoto, and frankly, I'm NOT inclined to do so until Apple address the incompatibility issues.

Thanks, again, to CLARSONX!

I am having similar issues as well and have been escalated up to tier 2 support as well. My thread is at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3814583?answerId=17903798022#17903798022&ac_cid=142432#17903798. Have tried 7 or 8 different troubleshooting tips to no avail. There's no way any of us should have to go and resize (manually or via batch)photos to get them on an iPad. We all have spent way too much money for the BS to be happening.

Same issue here. Didn't have iPhoto originally when the sync failed. Got it iPhoto afterwards...but going through some of the workarounds - delete iPhoto, delete ipod photo cache - still didn't fix it. Spent 5-6 hours going through half of my 22,000+ photos to batch resize to <3072 pixel long edge didn't fix all the issues. Less of 10% of the fixed photos that I had manually picked to sync ultimately made it to the ipad3 successfully. So pretty sure the <3072 pixel fix is only part of the answer.

Ultimately I gave up trying to resize the remainder photos...realizing it was futile since once it got to my more recent 12mp+ photos i would end up sacraficing the photo resolution to this lame iTunes or iPhoto bug. Going to wait for Apple to fix this...or I'll just go bug my neighbors that work there to go pay some attention to this issue (yes I live in apple country...all of 0.2 miles from where Apple started and where they still are).

Problems for me too...

Just got my iPad third gen, restored from iPad first gen and pics didn't restore. Tried to sync for an hour with no success. All suggestions not working, including the removal of cache directories. At most, 17 of 2500 pics have transferred. It starts but then fails each time. Tried both wirelessly and USB. If I drag pics to the iPad in iTunes, I get 'some of the files, including... were not copied to the iPad... because they cannot be played on this iPad.' The same pics sync'd perfectly fine with my iPad first gen. Frustrating. I'm running iTunes 10.6.0.40 and Windows 7 64-bit.

We got a couple of new iPads, and we all had the same problem to sync photos where only a few dozen of a thousant plus photos are synced.

- clean latest version of iTune on Windows7

- sync of all photos on any other device worked (other iPhone, iPod or iPad)

- deleted/rebuilt the iPod cache did not fix it

- sync reset on on iTune for the new iPad did not fix it

- no backup/restore of the ipad was involved.

- iPhoto was involved on my machine

- all photos are indeed large taken from semi-pro Canon or Nikon equipment

I think this is a real problem that Apple will fix with either a new version of iTune and/or a new version of the iOs or firmware on the iPad.

So you are not alone, we don't know of anybody with a new iPad connected with iTune on Windows that can sync large pahotos takedn by any DSL cameras.

The New iPad will not sync all photo's
