Connecting IPad1 to Netgear WN3000RP WiFi Extender

In wireless settings turn off Ask to Join networks. If previously connected to existing router, connect to it then tap on forget this network. Take your ipad away from the range of your existing router,, IE walk away until signal is lost, but within range of your extender. Now try and connect. once connection has been made, switch Ask to Join Networks back On. Make sure our extender is showing green on signal strength and not either Amber or Red whilst trying to connect your iPad 1. upgrade to ioS 5.1 also corrected a number of connectivity stability issues - see release notes.

Settings\General\Reset reset network settings. Turn your extender off - connect to your router test for internet connection - then turn your extender back on and walk your device out of range the router but within range of your extender. test connectivity again. If Ok with route but problems with extender, rerun the setup for the extender again.

in some scenarios you may have to set an IP for your pad manually in the upper range - so if 192.168.12 is the starting address - try setting it to 192,168,1.102. similarly or instead it may help to give the extender a static address in the higher range rather than use the WPS function. Also note if using WPS function it needs to be compatible with all devices connecting - otherwise use a wpa or WPA2 manually set password - had that problem with my home set up everything would connect but the ipad and my Xp machine - set a manual wpA2 password and everything was fine.

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
