It's a bit the reverse of what most of us are used to. Unlike on your computer where you attach a document to an email message you create in an mail program, you need to open the document you wish to send in an app that supports emailing; many if not most do. Then you can send the document from there. If you can tell us what type of document you wish to send, we can probably recommend one or more apps you can use.

Regards.

Now with the mail you can hold your finger down in the text box and an option pop up will appear, allowing you to attach photos or videos. However, if it won't mail, is this a photo you took with your iPad or one you imported intothe iPad? Is it possible that it's an overlarge file? Most mail programs have a meggage limit on how big of an e-mail you can send. And if you're trying to e-mail on cellular i'm not sure if the size data cap applies to mail as well. I do know there's a download file size cap on cellular connections.
