I am on vacation and have access to old composite tv's. I want to watch my movies on my ipad on these tv's. I bought the composite video cable, but when connecting the ipad says this accessory is not supported by ipad. No video no audio. Please help

Which iPad are you on? the composite video will only support iPad 2 and up.

actually I have an ipad 2, ipad 1, ipod touch gen4, iphone 4 and a mac. Sad isn't it. But none of these will work with this cable. Read somewhere that some of these cables have a chip in them. Maybe this is an old one?

do you get an option to dimis the warning?
I am using the apple composite video cable with the usb charging plug. Yellow (video) Red and White (Audio L&R). It just saysThis accessory is not supported and makes you press OK.
and iOS is up to date?
have you tried switching the tv to the component input you're putting the cables into before plugging in the ipad?
ios is up to date. I have tried that as well. I am dumbfounded. I think I will go back to the apple store where I bought the cable and take my ipad2 to see if they can make it work. Frustrating with a 2 and 8 y.o. waiting to watch cars. Thanks for your help.
both your ipad 2 and iPhone 4 can't use the cable?! Maybe it's part of the NEWER cables that came out to support the ipad 3's and you're experiencing some sort of bug?
That really stinks, I would definitely go back and tell them this, but you're on vacation so, maybe it's time to break out the analog Uno set?
