retina display MBP has extremely slow wifi... why?

Are you using a bluetooth mouse. My macbook pro retina will not fully load a webpage. Once I turned off my bluetooth the internet problem went away.

I'm also experiencing a problem with WiFi on my new MBP which could be the same issue.

I'm also having problems with my WiFi on my new MBP Retina. But for some reason, I've only experienced it slow at home. But my old Macbook Pro 2007's WiFi works fine at home. Same location, etc. I'm experiencing same issues... extremely slow load times, failing to load. I've taken my computer in to the Genius bar, and they've run tests and say it's fine. But the problem still persists.

And the software is up to date as well. Anyone else found out what the problem is?

Then turn off BlueTooth. I bet the WiFi improves.

Turning BlueTooth off, did improve my WiFi significantly. However, I shouldn't have to turn BlueTooth off for the WiFi to work. This machine cost over $3,000. Everything should work perfectly.

I think I'm going to return my mine and ask for a new one.

Oh yes. And I am one of them... def. one of the worst things about this macbook. I am using the Apple Magic Mouse, Apple Airport Extreme and MBP Retina, whenever I turn on the bluetooth, my WIFI jump on and off sporadicly. Too annoying. I can't download large files without using an FTP program or other Download program (J-downloader etc).

Apple... Fix it or face the concequenses. Heading back to PC!

I suggest you notify AppleCare. The more people complain about this probelm, which I've had also, the more Apple will take it seriously and fix it. I've used Apple computer for over 10 years and never had this problem. Your obviously under warranty, so have it checked out and have them help you.

I'm also having the same issue. The applecare folks acted like they've never heard about it (seriously?) and had me do some stupid things like deleting all the other networks out of the list but the one I was using (she actually tried to tell me that the computer would be "confused" by 5 computers in my known network list).

I just took it to the genius bar, and they ran diagnostics on it, and it's working just fine. In their store, using their network, I was getting 12 mbps. At my mom's house (who doesn't pay for the fastest speeds), I was getting 9 mbps. Here at my house, where every other computer (including my 2007 macbook) is getting 20 mbps, I am getting LESS THAN ONE.

My shiny new computer is completely unusable. It has nothing to do with bluetooth. It has something to do with an incompatibility with the new router my husband bought two days ago (Linksys E1200). Before that, I think it was okay. I am going to have him switch back to the old router and see if that solves anything.

But SERIOUSLY, Apple? I'm about to send it back, too. I am VERY disappointed. Oh, and when the wireless radio is going nuts, my battery life suffers tremendously. I am getting nowhere near 7 hours. More like 2. And that's with bluetooth turned off, and the screen dimmed.

Oh, and an addition, I am running Mountain Lion. My computer just arrived last Monday. I've already installed all system updates. I even had them re-install Mountain Lion at the Apple Store. I think my little Betsy is going to have to be replaced. :-(

I would download a utility like inssider and see what other wireless networks are in the area. It could be that the channel is saturated and perhaps the wireless chipset in these macbooks are more susceptible to that?

I fixed my problem. We had upgraded to a new router. We re-installed the old router, and things went back to normal. Apparently the new MBPr is not compatible with some routers.

I was also able to fix the problem with slow wireless. It turns out that when I switched from the 2.4GHz spectrum to the 5GHz spectrum, the wireless speeds returned to normal. Not sure why the retina MacBook Pro has a problem with it, because my Windows laptop handles the 2.4Ghz just fine with no slow down sitting in the exact same spot. My router is a Netgear that dual broadcasts both spectrums, so no big deal to switch to the other SSID.
