Potentially, anything is possible, but unless Apple makes an announcement we don't know. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for such a feature though.

well.... there are articles abput apple's new patent that talk about rfid and nfc and how you can use ur iphone as gaming controller.... my concerns are that can v use third party controllers too?/... and most of all, will ipad 3 support this new approach to gaming??... apple shoud consider this as android allows it....
Well I can tell you right now that the 360 controller will never be supported. It uses a propriatary wireless technology that only works with the Xbox 360 and a reciever Microsoft made for Windows machines.
There actually already are some game controllers produced for the iPad. They skirt around the Bluetooth restrictions by behaving as wireless keyboards. Only a small handful of games support them though, and because of the input method they are strictly digital in nature (no working analog sticks).
Android also allows easy virus and malware distribution through their app market - should Apple consider allowing that too?
The iPad already allows BT keyboard input. I can't imagine that game controllers would be a greater security hazard.

the thing is that the new ipad has potential as a gaming tablet.... its retina display gives a tough competition to game consoles .. if a gaming controller is introduced which works with all the ipad games, then this will be the future of gaming...
btw, does any one here have info abt upcoming ipad games??... will v see games like skyrim, assasins creed, COD ??

Well you were listing security flaws in Android as your counterargument...
You would have to ask the developers of those games whether they plan to do iPad versions.

Oh, I agree: FPS controls suck on the touch screen. The developers try their best, but it's still awkward compared to other control methods.
Whether Apple does eventually add proper support for an external gamepad is just something we will have to wait and see. For now i think your best option is to buy a dedicated gaming handheld for those sorts of things.
well i want to buy the new ipad 😀 .... i basically want a tablet for digital sketching (using stylus) and for gaming as well... i see retina display as future of tablet gaming...
Ah, I see. Well sketching is something it handles fairly well. In fact that's one of the big reasons I bought my iPad. It only gets better as stylus technology improves (there now exist pressure sensitive ones that are compatible with the iPad).
No, the point was not everything Android has is good, so shouldn't automatically be done by Apple just to match.
Well it's hard to see a downside when touchscreen controls are so clearly inferior with certain game genres. (which is not to say they don't work well with others)
is there any possibility in future that the new ipad or ipad 3 supports third party controllers (ps3, xbox 360) via NFC or RFID, as i was reading an article about apple's new patent of game controller... there are ipad games which need a controller...
