iOS 6 App Store Crashing when trying to view Purchased apps

After upgrading to iOS 6 my iPhone 4s can't display purchased apps. I start the App Store, touch updates and then touch purchased. I get a spining circle with Loading... for about a minute and then the App Store just exits and I'm back to the iPhone's first screen.

I've seen similar behavior with my new iPad after updating to iOS6. I haven't seen it crash but when starting App Store and then touching purchased it just stays at a spinning circle and says Loading... It never changes.

I've done the obvious stuff, power cycle and hold both buttons for a reset.

So after constant crashes on a 4s and 4, moving to the 5 resulted in no crashes on purchases and while I initially was crashing on genius, that seems to have gone away as well. I turned genius off and back on and that seems to have helped me. Others might wanna try that.

There is no way a 4s or 4 should have to suffer this issue though and I still hope apple realizes what's happening and acknowledges it, doing something about it. Gotta keep raising 'h' in this thread and elsewhere to get some resolution. I do feel a lot of this is the phone version of the AppStore having issues with store id's with huge amount of purchases. Genius results are based of purchases and would crash too. While it works in a iPad 3 and 2, it's laggy and actually after extended use crashes here and there as well. It's just badly written code, couple that with those who have huge amounts of purchases, I think it's causing the crashes.

Sabeens,

Though your theory does seem possible, it is not true in my case! I've had this issue since the moment after the upgrade on my iPhone4s. I'm not having this issue on my iPad2 but it is laggy like you said. So there are stackflow crashes (DISCLAIMER: I'm not a developer or code writer, just a poor support guy), is it due to the memory? Perhaps not because it doesn't explain why iPad2 works and iPhone 4s doesn't. iPhone 4s and iPad2 are very close as far as specs goes, so is it has to be the new App Stores requirement (if it has changed) IMHO.

My comparison is based on "iDemonstrate" app which I have both on iPhone and iPad. What really bugs me is the fact that media is all over Apple's new map vs. google maps which again IMHO, shouldn't matter. But they haven't said anything about this issue and every one that I know who has iPhone 4/4s has this issue. I just don't see the map issue, anyone can download mapquest or Waze which are both free and 1000x better than both Google and Apple map.

But it seems to me, as big companies do, they won't acknowledge this issue until the have a good idea what is going on and they are close to a fix for it.

But then again, what do I know, right? 🙂

it's all just wierd, nothing is consistent. I just think their servers are a mess right now. I went in to my music and it was hit and miss being able to download various purchased music. I would go in to coldplay and nothing would show, could go in to another artist and everything by them would show for download. this error was seen on all my devices and was the same artists. I go to itunes and go that route and there it showed fine.

even genius, on the ipad if i hit category for appstore genius, it'd show 4-5 different categories. on the phone it shows two.

as far as why, i was only guessing. the crashes do seem server side time outs or stackflow like you said, I just was curious if it was people with numerous apps like me that could trigger that crash. I think by in large the experience has gotten much smoother since i upgraded my wife and i to the iphone 5 and to that end, there is no iphone 4 or 4s in the house anymore(sold em) but the underlying issue still irks me. this does come off as a bug that should have been noticed and adressed before gm release. from what i hear, last few betas introduced this error.

My iPad 2 just got "cannot connect to iTunes" error today, so this issue is not just on the iPhones. When I go to App Store or iTunes, it loads, then says "cannot connect to iTunes, then automatically closes. My Facebook app also crashes. Tried the reboot, reset network, date change, etc. nothing worked. Hope they fix this soon!

I'm getting a crash on ios 6 on my iphone 4s when i hit the genius button in the app store and hit an app to get info on. I did notice that if i hit details quickly before the page loads it does not crash. Another thing to notice is that when i go into the app store my choices across the bottom seem to change. when i first go into the app store, my choices across the bottom are: featured, charts, genius, search, updates. Then i go in there again a few minutes later and my choices are now: featured, catagories, top25, search, updates. I can swear that i have had the buttons in another order but i don't remember what order they were in....only thing i do remember is that the updates was in the middle which really seemed strange to me.
