1 dead pixel on iphone 5 screen, am i eligible for a replacement?

I think not, but only Apple can make this determination. As I understand it, the number, relative proximity, and location of dead pixels are considered.

A few adjacent ones would be an obvious defect; a replacement due to a single dead pixel may be difficult to justify.

You will have to check with Telstra. I have also heard Apple may have some means of restoring a dead pixel to life.

Of course they will replace it. You just need to call as soon as you can. You have 30 days to return the phone for no reason what so ever even if you just changed yoru mind. Why wouldn't be able to return it for a defective device? My Iphone 5 also shipped with a dead pixel. I was on the phone for 2 hours but I am getting a replacement. Guess what I would have did if they said no...."Ok, I would like to return my phone because I changed my mind." Paid my 10% restocking fee and got the brand spankin new one anyway. Apple realizes this, they are not -NOT- going to give you a new phone in your first 30 days.

Having said all that they upheld there end of the deal and replaced it completley for free. Didn't even have to pay for the new one to be shipped.

I have the same problem too. I already went to apple store yesterday, and they replacment the new iphone 5 to me ! But, when I went home I still find out same problem again with a dead pixel on replacement phone. I already make a appointment with apple store again on friday to see what they can do !! 😠

A colleague of mine found a deal pixel on his iPhone 5. He got a replacement unit from Apple (Hong Kong IFC Apple Store). So I think it's OK to ask for replacement when there is any dead pixel found.

BTW, I wrote an app to spot deal pixel more easily, search "Dead Spotter" on AppStore ;-)

I got a replacement iPhone 4s for wifi issues. After using it for a day, I noticed a broken pixel! The only device I had ever seen a broken pixel on before was my Nintendo DS, which developed one over time. I greatly value the clarity and retina resolution of iPhone screens so I took it back. The gave me a replacement, but later that day, I noticed another broken pixel! I took it back, comlpaining, and they said they could open one more phone, and I would have to take it regardless of whether it had a broken pixel or not. I opened it up and sure enough, the third replacement had a broken pixel too! The guy claimed that its a common problem that I just hadn't been noticing on my other Apple devices and I've been checking but I haven't found any broken pixels on my computer or iPad. I decided that its not that big of a deal and I'll get the iPhone 6 when it comes out anyway so I stopped arguing with them.
