my phone is frozen with a message "not enough storage" i cant restart

i recently updated my phone. today, i cant get past a message that is titled "not enough storage". It will not allow me to use the screen. i can see calls coming in, but am unable to answer. it will also not let me turn off the phone, as i can't use the touch screen.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6, just updated to iOs6

Hold down the sleep and home button till it turns off, then hold down the power button to turn it back on :)

i cant slide the turn off phone message over on the touch screen

Hold the button on the front and the button on the top together until it turns off fully.
