Verizon iPhone 5: no 4G/LTE

I have a new iPhone 5 on Verizon. (This is a new account/activation, after finally ditching AT&T).

I live in Chicago which has extensive 4G/LTE on the Verizon network. Since activating the phone, I have yet to see anything other than 3G show up in the status bar, despite traveling a good bit around town and surrounding areas.

I have confirmed in Settings>Network that I have LTE enabled.

Is there something else I need to do with the phone or Verizon to get LTE service?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7)

i would actaully call verizon and have them tell you what kind of coverage you have in the area then from there you can reset network by going to setting> general> reset> reset network
