FaceTime iOS 6 Poor Connection message

I never had any FaceTime issues until I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 6. Now I'm constantly getting the following error message:

"Poor Connection

The video will resume automatically when the connection improves."

I just tested with SpeedTest and I'm getting 19mbps download 2.5mbps upload.

It happens with anyone I FT with iPhone or iPad

Anyone else having this problem?

iPhone 3G, iOS 4.2, iTunes 10.2.2.12 for Windows

Confirmed still a problem both on my 4S and iPad - I'm beginning to wonder what's wrong with these people, either they are blind to forums such as this or just plain arrogant and still in denial!

Reconnects every time on wifi - no issues with 3G - Skype works just fine and I'm forced to use that iso FT, which just renders my 4S useless for video calls.

Thanks Apple, lets see what else you can't fix in 6.2!

Well I still think the IOS 6.0 and up (3g capable) clients are being routed to another service or more likely a whole different bank of servers, but I think if Apple can not sustain the increased load on that service they should allow a facetime client based on the IOS 5 and earlier system, that still Facetime service still works great apparently.

Complaining to Apple is the only thing left, maybe they will allow us to run IOS 5 again, or upgrade the IOS 6 services/servers at Apple.

I am having the same problem with my apple devices using facetime. Had a great tech, but have been dealing with this for 4 days. I get the poor connection message. The people I call can see me, but I can't see them. The tech had me start all over installing the apps and that took forever to get downloaded. We did have some bad weather and I am on satellite, so I thought maybe that was the problem. Finally got the apps up and running, but now my pictures are taking forever to redown load. I am extremely frustrated. I forgot about the iOS.6 upgrade and happy to hear it isn't just my device. I live in a very rural area and don't have an apple store nearby except in Atlanta. Will be going there in a few weeks. I did all the disconnecting, reconnecting, shut downs that I can handle. My wifi is fine and am usually happy with the apple support, but they haven't mentioned this upgrade issue. It is making more and more sense now that I have been reading these posts. I hope we get this rectified. Good luck to all. If anyone has a solution for my pictures being downloaded let me know. I am snowed in at the moment, but hopefully once the weather clears it will speed up. Thanks.

Just updatet from 5.2.1 to 6.1.2 on my iPhone 4.

Never had any problems with FaceTime, but at this moment it's a total **** !

My wifi-icon in the top-bar sometimes just dissapears during a FaceTime call and switches to 3G, then it tries to reconnect..... after 10 seconds the wifi icon appears again and the connection is established again. Over and over again. Sometimes it lasts 12 minutes, sometimes 12 seconds.
And no, there is nothing wrong with my router settings or internet connection. It's all exact the same as when I was using 5.2.1.

Why doesn't Apple fix this problem? 😕

If your iPhone 4 is not running IOS 6 then I believe you are running thru a different batch of servers that handle the older wifi only (no 3g) clients.

My IOS 6 devices do just fine on Facetime "at times" ... that's why I think there is a new bank of machines these IOS 6 devices, with their new fangled wifi/3g support run through, the new service simply gets overwhelmed, a victim of it's own success, remember the Facetime service is free, and since nobody pays for Facetime, where does the money to upgrade the service come from?

If it happens at all I can believe it's not a priority, another free service that becomes a victim of it's own success.

Could be it's ultimately the business model that's broke about Apple's Facetime service!

Any of this make sense?

My iPhone 4 (non-S) is loaded with iOS 6 and runs FT over wifi (in fact, it refuses to run it over the 3G network, which is just fine). All my devices are running 6, actually. The phone works great, the other two devices do not.

The iPad will try to display the video of whoever I'm calling, then freeze, then blank out. It's made for some amusing pictures 😉

Agreed now the end of March and the worst operating system has NOT been rectified --- so angry feel like jamming my iphone 5 plus my New Ipad up the developers rear passage. FIX it apple or stop advertising it .... my relationship like many depend on this not everyone lives with their partner or children VERY frustrating ......

Poor Connection .......... message makes facetime totally unusable the audio quality is pathetic with intense feedback .........this never happened on previous IOS 5 as i have been using this on an Iphone 4 for over 2 years then on the New Ipad for several months before i mistakenly updated to IOS 6.

What a joke ..........thankfully TANGO and Skype exists but does not help my ipad and quality is not close to what Facetime was.

I suggest they use the mega profits to pay a developer overtime or at least revert back to IOS 5 and call it a miracle cure IOS 7.

That's crazy that it seems like such a huge problem and yet it is not being addressed.

For me, it's not much of a problem anymore, as the main reason I used it no longer exists; I used it basically everyday for 2 years at least, one of those years, everything worked perfectly then the upgrade sent it spiraling down, ending the relationship with FaceTime, and the person I used it with almost everday (not blaming FaceTime of course for the demise haha but it did make things frustrating-using ASL when the screen gets frozen/pixelated/booged down(slow) etc is a nightmare)

Now I only use it occasionally and for short periods of time, not hours like I did before. It is strange sometimes it worked fine and sometimes not. Also LTE/4g it works great but then eats up my data, so that's no good!

Hopefully it gets worked out!
