WiFi disconnected after lock screen (iOS 6)

Have the same problem on my iPhone 4 after upgrading to iOS6. Whenever I put the phone to sleep mode, it will disconnect from WiFi. Then when I wake it, it has to reconnect again.

Therefore, I don't receive any of my WiFi notifactions when the phone is asleep.

I am having the same issue and like you said, is very annoying. I hope this is a bug and not an intentional change by Apple, have we heard anything from them on this?

I have heard there is a way around this that some people use.

You need to set your iphone is sync with itunes over wifi.

Go to Settings

General

Itunes Wi-Fi Sync

It will then give you the instuctions.

I think is defaulted to off as you will use more battery power !.

I have the same problem, and it is definitely irritating to see such bugs and bad programming from such a company, especially with many earlier OS releases. You would think that the new IOS6 would be many additional features on top of all the good features of previous iOS's.

I read somewhere that by the end of October an update will be released to cover most of the bugs that came out since the official release of iOS6, but then again, what is the purpose of the Beta Testing Phase if not to fix such basic issues.

I hope they would turn their attention to this as soon as possible.

Try restarting your iphone or ipad or itouch. that method resolved mine. that is pressing the lock and home button at the same time. hope that will work! 😉

I had the same issue and I managed to resolve it right now (it seems to have been fixed, not sure on the long term :s).

Anyway try these to steps:

-hard reset your device (press and hold home+sleep button untill the iPhone turns on again)

-In Settings>General>Reset choose Reset Network Settings.

After that reconnect to your wifi and the issue should be resolved, at least that's what helped me :)

But you would have to delete all your saved network profiles, and you would have to wait to be in range to reconfigure them, but it is worth it, for me at least, since i'm on a limited data plan and i need to be connected to wifi whenever it is available

The solution from nizarsultani didn't work for me. My iPhone 4S still uses cellular data when the screen is locked.

same problem for me, after updating to ios6, wifi is disconnecting when screen lock!!

what to do now? disabling cellular data is not resolving the problem,

Same problem with my iPhone 4. I tried everything that was said above but nothing works for me. Hopefully, an update will solve the problem.

Same problem here, iPhone5, nothing above worked.

I understand previously it's a a design when the phone is on 3G connection, wifi will go off when screen is off. However my phone is not with 3G connection so this is not acceptable.

I updated my iphone 4S to iOS 6.0.1 two days ago, and the problem is still not fixed.

Anyone with a different outcome?
