Lock screen wallpaper not setting on my 2nd gen iPod Touch

I have a 2nd generation iPod Touch with iOS 4.2.1, and recently it hasn't been letting me change the wallpaper for the lock screen. I reset the settings, and it went back to the default black screen, but it still won't let me set a picture for the lock screen. It does correctly display album artwork when I'm playing a song.

I'm not sure if it's just a glitch, or if Apple is messing with older devices to get users to upgrade. I have not tried resetting the whole device, but I will if it comes down to it.

Any ideas? All answers are appreciated.

Try:

- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup

- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
