I have the same problem. I used the video today for the first time. Its a new Iphone 5 out the box. Not restored, just set up and used for about 4 days....
I just had someone film a video for me. (Skateboard related)
Had to send the video to a sponsor.
Took a little while to get and then when I did and go back to watch it. (Filmed on my buddies iphone5)
No sound. Just a static noise. I figured out the problem though. It's the crappy speck cases for the new iPhone 5. Or any case that covers the mic/ speakers on the bottom of the phone. Take the case off and try it. You should be good
Take the case off and record a new video. Then play back. Unfortunately the previous videos won't playback anything
I took the case off and recorded a video, the buzzing sound still overrides the audio. The audio remains very faint even though I put my iphone on max volume. Voice memos work fine though.
I took the case off mine and recorded a new video still no sound.. Just white noise.. I tested the voice memo app and that works fine. Does this phone have more than one mic??
If you have a screen protector on the back either take it off or just cut it shorter at the top - the screen protector was covering my video mic hole.
How stupid I feel.. As an IT technician... I should know better!! Yes... I covered the mic on the back of the camera...... Hey its working !!! 😊😮
Oh my I can totally out do your stupidness :-). I spent over an hour on the Internet googling it! I powered off/on, hard restart, reset the settings. Still no audio. Because it was less than 30 days since I bought it my phone i called my carrier and they said to just bring it in and they switched it out for a new phone. I get home, put my screen protectors on once again, sync it and get everything all set up. Tried a video and same thing! Spent a good five minutes flipping it over and then I noticed that little black hole between the camera and flash... and figured it out! I am, however, happy that I was actually able to help someone else out for the first time!
Make sure your phone is not on silent- sound should play fine in video playback. This could be one possible solution...
I had the same problem but I got it fixed.
There's a sticky screen protector when you first purchase your iPhone (on the back).
Make sure you peel that off, there's a tiny mike next to the lens that's being covered by that sticky screen.http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/how-to/fix-iphone-5-not-recording-sound-videos/
Thanks KellyNguyen16 .
I FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM !!! TAKE OFF THE ORIGINAL BACK SCREEN PROTECTOR!!!! There is a speaker next to the flash, and you case or screen protector is covering it
This post helped me. In my case, the small audio hole between my lens and flash was blocked with chocolate. I carefully cleaned it out with a small pin and my audio problem was solved.
II'll be buggered there must have been so,e small piece of dirt in my mic hole. Thanks
