IPad warranty on open box

I purchased an Ipad2 open box from Best Buy - was told it had manufacturers warranty from my date of purchase. 11+ months of ownership and the battery won't charge. I went to the Apple Store and they told me my warranty expired 1 week earlier. I contacted Best Buy and they said I had to contact Apple. I have contacted Apple through the website but can't get any resolution and now the actual warranty has expired and my IPad still won't charge!

HELP! Any suggestions?

Open box could mean someone owned and registered it before you.

Check here to see what Apple shows about original date of sale and

warranty status:

Dig out your receipt showing when you purchased the iPad if the above

shows a different date of purchase than your reciept as documentation when

you go to Apple store or call AppleCare. If you don't have the receipt, you

can get a duplicate from your financial institution if you used a credit/debit

card. That credit/debit card may also provide extended warranty - something

you need to check out.

You may have been had by BestBuy as Apple Warranty starts with original sale.

If BestBuy sold item as new/unused but open box and Apple shows an

earlier date of sale, contact your Attorney General or Consumer Rights group

for your location.

I just had total 2 hours of chat support / call support and finally talked to Warranty Adviser with same issue.

Open box ipad air was purchased 1/1/14 but the warranty was ending at 11/27/14

After looking at my picture of the best buy receipt, Warranty Adviser could not adjust the purchase date of the

Used/open/displayed/ Ipads and you are stuck with the date it was first purchased.

Also I couldnt get those free iwork apps and they have to go through "unclaiming" process which takes 24 hours.

Open box items from best buy are great discount but warranty information isnt clear when you purchase so be

warned.
