My iPhone 3GS is locked after an interrupted update to the latest IoS update (6.01?). I tried to reset using the home and off buttons: the phone turns off, but then when it starts to boot it displays the apple logo on and off at 5 second intervals. I tried connecting it iTunes, but doesn't get recognised.
Any way of resetting?

Try to put iPhone in DFU mode. Maybe iTunes will recognize the iPhone now. Then restore.
I have the same problem with my phone. It took a couple of hours to get it working. But now it won't do anything but show the same image.
Melle, what's DFU mode? I've managed to get the 'Connect to iTunes' image, and then follow the restore process, but then I get a '3194' error - can't be restored, and it's back to the same apple on and off logo.

To put iPhone in DFU mode:
Step One
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.
Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
Step Three
After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
When you did this, your iPhone have a blackscreen. It is in DFU mode. Now try again to restore via iTunes. Hope this will solve.
Thanks - yes, that's what I did earlier, but then got a '3194' error.
Try another USB port, another usb cable or another computer. Some of this could work.

You must have a computer with iTunes and you must be willing to completely restore your phone. But at least it will be working!!
