I feel lucky and privileged to still be on 5.1.1...

This might not solve your problems but after I set up my dad's new iPhone I noticed a LOT of Internet activity while the phone was just lying on my desk.

Go to: Settings / Privacy / Location Services and scroll to the bottom of the screen (right at the bottom past all the text). There nicely hidden from general view you will find another sub-menu. Go into this menu and turn all the options in this menu off. Your phone does not need any of those to be on to function properly. As soon as those were turned off the Internet activity stopped immediately.

Give it a try. Might just work.

I had the same problem. I was still on 5.1.1 en my Iphone 4s worked fine. I had a battery life of 3 days in standby. In practice, with my average use, I had to charge every two days.

I recently updated from 5.1.1 directly to 6.1.2 and my battery life went down from 3 days in standby to 6 hours in standby (meaning I have to recharge every 3 to 4 hours now). Tried to restore several times, but no succes. And then to mention the random restarts, backlight fails and apps that fail. Making a photo is just impossible and safari doesn't work anymore. These are just a few of my newly received problems.

Apple made my phone useless and if they think they can force me in buying a new one by doing this, they are terrible wrong. I think it is very wrong to treat your customers like this.

Since Apple refuses to solve this problem (and does not care about customer satifcation) and I now have a brick that does nothing for me, I am making the move to HTC One later this year.

People can put up with a lot and even forgive, but Apple's silence on this is deafening, and unacceptable.

And to the naysayers, it does not even matter if ONE PERSON IS HAVING THE ISSUE...customer satisfaction means you take care of business whether it is 1, 101, 1001, or 101,000.

Although I have been with iPhone since day one of launch, I am done.

HTC here I come.

cinefyl I just read all of your comments, and I get it - you're upset. But you haven't said what you've done so far to fix the problem and haven't really stated how bad it is for you.

My own theory is that most of this is carrier problem. I live in NYC, and my battery can keep a charge for DAYS while at home where there is an excellent, line of sight to the cell tower. (Pic below) Once I go into Manhattan where the signal is less than ideal, I can literally watch my battery meter drop precipitously like most of you. When I go back home, problem is gone.

So far, I'm on 3+ days on my old iPhone 4 w/ 6.1.2:

Hi Pdroth...thanks for asking - I have been having this issue since October 2012 when 6.1 hit.

I actually made Apple give me a whole brand new 4S in January (thinking the battery was bad) and the problem has persisted.

I have updated to 6.2 with the Exchange fix. Nada.

I have done a full setup (3-4 times) as a new iPhone, and turned off everything (no exchange, no location, no siri, no wifi, and no apps other than the default ones, etc.) and I am still losing 5-10% battery per hour while the unit is just sitting there.

So I have tried all the tricks with no luck.

The problem is not that this is happening-the problem is Apple's lack of attention to it.

No power=dud

I'm gonna assume the update has given me all my problems. It has been 2 1/2 weeks with my issues on my iPhone 4S. My battery drains really fast and gets super hot (in under a hour using WIFI) and I get no signal.

I have called AT&T about my signal issue. What they have done doesn't work. When I work, my phone gets 4G...for 2 1/2 weeks now, my phone does not pick up a signal at all while at work. I have started using another phone at work and that phone picks up 3G on AT&T network. So it is not the area. I get home from work and my phone switches to the E network and slowly I start receiving my text messages...But they do not all come through. It's 3:00 p.m now and I got home from work at 1:30, I have only received part of my messages. The last one said 12:04 p.m. I have been doing all the resets when I have no service.

As for the battery...when using my phone on WIFI because I get crap signal right now, my phone's battery will be dead in under a hour and it gets hot. After a full charge and I unhook it and let it sit, it dies within 2 hours. I have reset my phone, I have set it up as a new phone. Today I set it up as a new phone and I have not added any apps, mailbox accounts ( I read that messes something up) Don't have the cloud service in effect. Today my phone isn't gertting as hot, but I have not been using it either. I've been searching these forums for answers and nothing seems to work. This is getting very frustrating!!!

I Think i know what the problem is.....it isnt exchange or whatso ever.

i Have a memory meter at the top of the bar next to the time, and i saw on 5.0.1 that i ussualy have 200mb free ram and on 6.1.1 it is between the 138 and 38 mb's, mostly under 100mb free ram. And if i free up memory use with sbsettings, on 5.0.1 it sprong back to 248 free mb and on 6.1.1 is springs back to 148 free mb.

so something is clearly consuming allot of memory use and that drains the battery i think.

can someone confirm this if they spotted it to?!

Hey all,

Just noticed something interesting--I keep getting these alerts from AT&T about almost exceeding my data plan usage which is odd because I rarely use 3G/4G for data (I mostly use wifi which does not count).

This would lead me to beleive that some other data is leaking out from a phantom source.

Hmmmmmmm
