Problem with iPad 3 Mail App - Sent POP mail disappears

There are lots of other posts with a similar issue, but no solutions. Hence a new post with an appeal if anyone knows how to fix this.

Compose or reply to email, press send, email disappears. Not in sent folder, doesn't reach recipient. What is happening and how can it be fixed? Is it an IOS Bug? I've checked mail server settings are correct as advised by ISP. This is driving me nuts.

is the mail account setup on the ios device or is the ios device just setup to sync mails with whatever mail program one choose in itunes?

this makes a huge difference

Hi Rudegar, thanks for replying to my post. The POP mail account is set up on my iPad in the IOS (using Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Accounts, etc), and not through a 3rd party mail app.
